Mid-motor vs. hub motor- Which is right for you?
The decision between mid-motor and hub-motor depends on your ride style and your requirements.:
Mid-motors (e.g. Bosch) are located at the bottom bracket for a natural support experience that adjusts proportionally to your pedaling force. Bosch motors are particularly known for very high reliability. Advantages:
- Ideal for steep climbs and challenging tours, as they help pull the weight instead of pushing it all.
- They offer better weight distribution, stabilizing your ride.
- Highly efficient, especially on long rides, leading to greater range. For even more range, all new Diamant e-bikes can be equipped with a PowerMore add-on battery.
Hub motors excel with a compact construction that minimizes weight at a low price. They discretely place the motor in the rear-wheel hub. Typically, they come equipped with smaller batteries.
- Especially suited for urban use, allowing quick accelerations at traffic lights in an environment where lower range forms no constraint.
- Operate nearly silently and without drag even when exceeding 25 km/h
- Lower investment, perfect for smaller and very small budgets.
Many e-bikes with hub-motors advertise a radical low weight prominently. Always pay attention to what you really get in exchange. Are rack, mudguards, dynamo lights, and kickstand indeed included? Is the rack built to prioritize aesthetic purism or is it built for multifunctional use as a rack? Can you remove the battery for re-charging? die Ausstattung. How long does the battery of a Diamant E-Bike last?
The battery’s lifespan depends on use. With proper care and moderate use, you can expect up to 1,000 charge cycles—equivalent to several years of enjoyment.
Are Diamant E-Bikes compatible with trailers?
Pay attention to model-specific recommendations. The Diamant Suvea is principally compatible with Thule trailers. For the Zing, you’ll need to replace the rear axle with a compatible quick-release version. Always ensure you don’t exceed the maximum system weight of your bike when using and loading a trailer.

Do Diamant E-Bikes feature ABS?
Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) significantly enhance safety in cars and motorcycles. However, at typically low Pedelec speeds (up to 25 km/h), we identify only limited benefits compared to the significant higher costs, added weight, and maintenance complexity. For this reason, we currently do not offer ABS-equipped bikes.
Does Diamant offer Speed Pedelecs?
Speed Pedelecs, which assist up to 45 km/h, are particularly suitable for commuters who nonetheless want to use a bike despite their long way to work. These speed pedelecs require registration and a license plate. Currently, Diamant does not offer Speed Pedelecs. Currently.
Why doesn’t Diamant offer e-bikes with Pinion transmissions?
To put it bluntly: We do not want to have too many irons in the fire. Alternative drives require their own frame designs, extensive testing, and certifications. There will always be another new motor that is even a tiny bit better until it’s surpassed by the next new kid on the block a month later. But there is one manufacturer that has proven to always be among the best. Bosch produces the most reliable motors at a reasonable price point and offers excellent service throughout Europe. A Bosch-powered bike ensures you receive support anywhere. By focusing on a consistent drive train system, we can confidently say: As a whole package, this pedelec is outstandingly good—not just on paper, but in daily use.
