Trekking® Bikes

All-round talents for everywhere and anytime

At Diamant, we offer you lightweight and versatile trekking® bikes and trekking® e-bikes. No matter what your daily life looks like, your Diamant bike is a reliable companion. A trekking® bike from Diamant is perfect if you’re always on the go and want a durable bike that won’t break the bank. It handles all types of terrain, making it suitable for city rides, day trips, and even longer bike tours. Find your next trekking® bike at Diamant and experience a new, better, and more versatile way of getting around.

Trekking® Bikes can do it all

Paved roads, cobblestones, gravel: trekking® bikes can handle it all. Newer trekking® bikes with wider, knobby tires even maintain good grip on sandy paths. And when the smooth new bike path leads to a bumpy forest road, trekking® bikes are equipped with a suspension fork. This protects your joints and gives you better control of the steering.

The seating position is a balanced mix of everything:

  • Much more comfortable than a racing bike, so even casual riders can spend a full day in the saddle without pain.
  • Far more active than a city bike, so you won’t arrive after sunset.
  • Ergonomically adjustable to fit you perfectly.

And yes, trekking® bikes can carry luggage too—your laptop and lunch for work, swimsuits and a picnic blanket for weekend outings, or half your household for an epic bike tour on a scenic cycling route.

Derailleur gears: Optimal choice for your trekking® bike

All Diamant trekking® bikes and trekking® e-bikes come with derailleur gears operated via handlebar levers. While they require a bit more maintenance than hub gears, they are relatively easy to adjust yourself.

Though you can’t shift gears while stationary (like at a traffic light), the derailleur system provides a broader gear range—from “cruising downhill with a tailwind” to “is this still a road or a vertical wall?” You’ll easily tackle steep and long climbs. The open design also allows you to fine-tune the gear range later.

Clever Tech by Diamant: Our smart design focuses on single-chainring drivetrains for non-motorized trekking® bikes. You shift only at the rear wheel, but the rear wheel cassette already offers you plenty gears without any redundancies. This makes shifting more intuitive, saves weight, and simplifies maintenance at a lower cost.

Trekking® bike features for traffic

A trekking® bike always comes fully equipped for road use according to German StVZO standards. This means you can ride worry-free on public streets. Features include:

  • Dynamo lighting: All new trekking® bikes also feature a standlight function. E-bikes even come with brake lights.
  • Tires with reflective strips: Ensuring side visibility in low-light conditions.
  • Fenders front and rear: Long enough to keep splash water off your shoes. Lightweight plastic versions are flexible in emergencies.
  • Bell: Lightweight, audible over distances, and pleasant sounding.
  • Non-slip pedals: All bikes are equipped with rubberized, slip-resistant platform pedals. For extra grip and better power transfer, you can upgrade to clip-in pedals from your dealer.

Features of a comfortable and safe trekking® bike

Today’s trekking® bikes are more than just bikes with suspension forks and luggage racks. Advances in trekking® e-bikes have driven innovations in many components.

  • Suspension seat post: Absorbs bumps for better comfort. Some e-bikes feature dropper posts that lower at the push of a button for easier mounting and dismounting.
  • Suspension fork with travel: Still standard, now with more travel for better shock absorption on gravel or rough pavement. Lockout functionality lets you stiffen the fork for smooth asphalt rides.
  • Disc brakes: Reliable stopping power with minimal hand force, even in bad weather.
  • Wide tires: Increased stability, better traction, and enhanced cushioning for a secure ride. Non-motorized bikes now come with tires at least 42 mm wide, while e-bikes can go up to 65 mm.
  • Ergonomic grips: Reduce pressure points for hand comfort on longer rides.
  • Wide handlebars: Provide better control and stability on challenging terrain.
  • Adjustable stem: Customize handlebar height to find the perfect riding position.

Which motors and batteries do Diamant trekking® bikes use?

We use Bosch motors, batteries, and displays in our trekking® e-bikes. Our primary choice is the Bosch Performance CX motor. Originally designed for mountain bikes, it has proven its versatility and reliability in trekking® bikes, delivering a fun and lively riding experience.

Our Zing e-bikes use external batteries, while Suvea e-bikes feature integrated ones. You can choose battery capacities from 400 Wh to 800 Wh. All batteries are lockable, removable, and operate with a single key thanks to our OneKey concept. Additionally, all our e-bikes now feature the new Bosch Smart System, compatible with the Bosch Flow app for personalized settings.

Are there trekking® e-bikes with a low-step frame?

Yes, we offer choice! We offer trekking® bikes with high-, mid-, and low-step frames. We do not distinguish between men’s bikes and women’s bikes. All our bikes are unisex—your comfort is the deciding factor. Each trekking® bike and frame style is available in multiple sizes. Our geometry charts, which consider both body height and inseam length, help you find the right size. When in doubt, we always recommend a test ride at your local dealer.

Weight: How heavy are trekking® bikes?

The weight of our Trekking® bikes ranges between 13 kg (Diamant Nhoma) and 17 kg (Diamant Mahon World)—ideal if you ever need to carry your bike. Fully equipped, motorized Trekking® e-bikes weigh between 22 kg and 29 kg, which is impressively light compared to many competitors. This is achieved through thoughtful design choices, such as using external batteries and clever weight-saving details.

What is the optimal riding position for a trekking® bike?

Trekking® bikes tend to have a sportier riding position than standard city bikes. The best position is highly individual. We recommend a bike fitting session to ensure maximum comfort for your rides.

Do trekking® bikes need integrated cables?

Integrated cables have become popular on roadbikes for better aerodynamics and squeezing out a few more seconds. Given their tidier aesthetics, they are now also trending on trekking® bikes. However, aesthetics come with a price, as they make cockpit adjustments and maintenance more time-consuming and cumbersome.

At Diamant, we integrate cables only where and when it makes sense, prioritizing practicality. We test our solutions extensively with our own mechanics to maintain functionality without unnecessary downsides. Often, we avoid all disadvantages and yet achieve beautiful aesthetics already with clever organization of cables.
